Solving the Fragmentation Problem
Arkis is addressing the fragmentation problem in the crypto world, particularly in the DeFi sector. The fragmentation issue arises due to the dispersion of liquidity across different chains (Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, Arbitrum) and protocols (AAVE, Uniswap, Curve). This fragmentation can lead to higher transaction costs, market impact, and slippage, making it more challenging for buyers and sellers to find each other. It also complicates the process of getting a clear overview of the market, as prices and relevant information are split across various exchanges.
Arkis solves this issue with two products: Arkis Protocol and Arkis Margin Engine. The Arkis Protocol consists of trading and liquidity pools and smart contracts adapters and implements multichain undercollateralized leverage powered by the Arkis Engine. Users can lock their liquidity in Arkis Protocol liquidity pools to passively earn interest on their tokens while others can borrow funds from pools to trade with leverage in DeFi.
The Arkis Margin Engine is a centralized portfolio analytics system that evaluates portfolio risk and calculates the initial and maintenance margin needed to provide leverage to a user. This system allows users to get multichain leverage on various protocols with much lower LTV than traditional credit protocols.
The Advent of a DeFi-native Prime Brokerage
DeFi will require something more than a straightforward analog of TradFi Prime Brokerage in order to solve the reductive on-chain trading experience and inefficient portfolio risk calculation. Unique financial primitives are being created constantly within the DeFi, which has blossomed into a diverse and broad ecosystem with tools enabling almost any use case known in TradFi.
Professionals and Financial Institutions will need proper navigation tools within this beautiful financial chaos in order to lead the adoption of DeFi. Unfortunately, the required infrastructure is not there and has to be built.
